NASRDA/GBB VISIT KOGI UNITY MOVEMENT AHEAD OF ZANGO VOCATIONAL CENTER LAUNCH

The Kogi Unity Movement has welcomed representatives of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and the Grassroots Builders for Betterment (GBB) ahead of the official graduation of hundreds of trainees and the launch of its skills acquisition training centre in Zango, a suburb of Lokoja, the state capital.

The NASRDA/GBB delegation, led by Engr. Ibrahim Moses Igoche, liaison officer and President/CEO of Precious and Maureen MPCS Limited, was received by the Group Managing Director of Sainif Group of Companies, Abdullahi Ubeida, also accompanying the team was Ambassador Ibrahim Rufus Usman.

During the visit, Ubeida warmly welcomed the delegates and discussed the vision and mission of the Kogi Unity Movement (KUM), along with its partnerships with other NGOs supporting the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“I am glad to have you in Lokoja. We have heard of the many good things you are doing across the states. Now that you are in Kogi, we believe the youth will be excited to see you, and many will benefit from the Federal Government’s plan to train thousands of young people. May Allah bring the good plans in Kogi to fruition,” Ubeida said.

In his remarks, President and CEO of Precious and Maureen MPCS Limited, Amb. Ibrahim Usman, assured NASRDA/GBB of KUM’s full support to ensure the success of the initiative in Kogi State.

Ibrahim noted that over 5,000 youths are listed for the takeoff of Phase 2 of the training, following the three hundreds of trainers that will be graduating during the centre’s launch.

“I am optimistic that tomorrow will be a huge success. We have coordinators and youths who are eager to be trained and have already been captured. We are confident that the state government will be pleased to see thousands of youths trained to become self-reliant,” Ibrahim said.

Speaking on behalf of the NASRDA/GBB Skills Acquisition Project, Engr Igoche commended the coordinators and praised the preparation and takeoff plans of the training centre.

He also commended the donor, retired Customs officer Suleiman Damisa, assuring that once the trainees are fully trained, his NGO, GBB, would formally request federal government support through NASRDA for empowerment packages mapped out for the beneficiaries.

He noted that many of the trainees will have the opportunity to work with both local and international agencies.

As part of their visit, the delegates paid homage to the Maigeri of Lokoja, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, to inform him of their mission in Kogi State.

Representing the Maigeri was the Mayaki of Lokoja, retired Permanent Secretary Aliu Lawal, who received the delegation at the palace.

The Mayaki expressed his joy over the initiative and urged the organizers to ensure inclusivity of all youths across all parts of the state, particularly giving attention to natives of Lokoja, the state capital.

“We are ready and willing to volunteer our services wherever needed. All it requires is just a phone call to tell us where you need our asitance. If you succeed, we succeed. If you fail, we fail as well,” he said.

NASRDA/GBB reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive participation, stressing that the project is part of President Tinubu’s vision to empower millions of Nigerian youths.
