The Commissioner of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Idris, has described citizens engagement as a crucial step in promoting participatory governance, accountability, and sustainable development at a Stakeholders’ Town Hall
Meeting On 2025 Budget Formulation in Lokoja.
He attributed the state’s success to the active stakeholder engagement on the budget and charge the people of Kogi state to be participatory in the budget planning and execution.
The commissioner appreciates governor Usman Ododo’s dedication to advancing the state through prudent financial management, strategic resources allocation, and assessed to the 2024 concurrent and capital budget of kogi state with the assurance of 50% performance before the year runs out.
The Executive Director, Initiative for Grassroots Advancement in Nigeria ( INGRA) and Chairperson, Kogi Accountability Platform, Hamza Aliyu charge kogi state citizen to always engage in the budget plans and follow up with the execution.
Stakeholders present feed questions, pointed out grey points and areas for development that should be included in the budget.
The Coordinator and secretary of the plight movement Moses opeyemi and Joel appreciate the kogi state government for engaging citizen on budget formulation and look forward for great response in the inclusion of their agitations submitted.
According to the commissioner an app for kogi state budget performance tracker will be on Google Play store before the end of November 2024.
