15 YEARS AFTER INSURGENCY ATTACK, POLICE RECOVER WOMAN’S BURIED N23.6M GOLD IN BORNO
The Borno State Police Command has recovered gold worth N23.6 million, buried 15 years ago by a woman fleeing a Boko Haram attack in Mallam Fatori, Abadam Local Government Area.
The discovery was confirmed in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, who revealed that the woman whose identity was withheld recently returned to the community and sought police assistance to retrieve the valuables she had concealed during the insurgency.
According to the PPRO, the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, commended the Divisional Police Officer of Mallam Fatori and his team for the professionalism and integrity displayed throughout the operation.
Daso explained that officers successfully recovered 22 carats of gold valued at about N20 million and a gold bracelet with a chain worth N3.6 million, following what he described as a diligent, well-coordinated search.
He added that CP Abdulmajid reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to continue cooperating with security agencies to enhance safety across the state.
