UK-BASED MEDICAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL, AISHA ABUBAKAR, SAYS HEALTH IS WEALTH, CALLS FOR INCREASED ADVOCACY ON FREQUENT HEALTH CHECKS

An Ebira-born, UK-based medical health professional, Aisha Abubakar, has called for more advocacy programmes to educate people on the risks of neglecting proper health check-ups to detect early signs of hypertension and blood sugar levels.

Aisha, a professional healthcare worker, made this call during the 30th-anniversary celebration of the 39 Regular Intake Best Friend Initiative’s medical outreach held at Reference Hospital in Okene, Kogi State.

She lamented the alarming rate at which some individuals’ blood pressure rises to over 200 without their knowledge, saying that this could lead to sudden collapse of the body system and possible stroke or death.

“Good health is wealth and far more valuable than the pursuit of wealth without proper attention to one’s health,” she emphasised.

“I am concerned that people live their lives without making a conscious effort to monitor how their body systems react. Some of the individuals we checked today are experiencing stress and require urgent medical attention. I have advised them to visit the hospital, consult their doctors, and adhere to the medication prescribed by our team today.”

“I would like to commend the 39 Regular Intake for extending their benevolence through this free medical outreach, which has touched lives and provided free medication, as well as eyeglasses for those suffering from sight challenges. May Allah bless them,” Aisha said.

Aisha promised to provide further support through her group in the UK to reach out to more people in the near future, with the aim of educating, encouraging, and providing medical assistance.

She also praised the state governor, Ahmed Ododo, for his remarkable strides in the healthcare sector and urged well-meaning Kogi residents to join the government in its efforts to build a better society for all.
