According to him “It gives me great pleasure to stand before you this day with a humble and a sincere heart that I offer my profound gratitude to the maker of heaven and earth for making this day a reality.

” Before you is the great, historic and memorable day of my inauguration as the 4th Chairman and the Youngest to occupy this prestigious position in the Confluence Branch of our great institution.

“I am super excited and honoured to share the joy of this moment with the wonderful team [2025/2027 Executive Committee and you all. I would like to begin by recognizing the Immediate Past Chairman of the Branch, ESV Elder Apeh Aduku Philips, ANIVS, RSV for his commitment and leadership roles played and his Vice Chairman ESV Abbas Yusuf.

“I would also like to recognize the leadership roles played by one of the Past Chairman, late ESV Hajia Ramatu Oyibo Omale [the 2nd Chairman], of blessed memory who has also wished to witness this new dawn. May her gentle soul continue to rest in peace. I wish to acknowledge the unweaving support of our Chairman Emeritus, ESV Ekundayo Ayodele [First Past Chairman].

“My fellow elected Executive committee members who are being inaugurated with me today, and who will be working with me in piloting the affairs of the Branch in the next two years, I congratulate you. I appreciate my wonderful Noble colleagues in the Kogi Branch for finding me worthy to be elected to lead them.

“Without your support, I wouldn’t be standing on the pedestal of history today. Our appreciation will be incomplete if we fail to acknowledge the pivotal roles played by His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State for identifying and placing professionals in right portfolio under his leadership, by giving recognition to two members of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers [NIESV] who were elevated into the office of Permanent Secretary in the State and for not putting a square peg in a round hole.

“We are indeed grateful and promise to partner with the State Government in achieving his good agenda in the built environment within the State at large. Our distinguished guests, we thank you for honouring our invitation and also for being part of this historic event.

” My acceptance of this demanding position is not premised on title but full responsibilities that calls for selfless service towards prioritizing members’ welfare, growth, and capacity development as a detribalized leader who focused more on impactful results.

“To continue the Secretariat building project currently at foundation level, to create a functional secretariat with accurate database system, promote members participation in capacity building symposium, and delivery of lectures during the Branch monthly general meetings, involve in governance as one of the key professionals in the built environment, engage undergraduates, secondary schools students and primary school students for better orientation in terms of carrier pursuit and the need to identify their goal early in life.

“Also, to aid establishment of Estate Management and Valuation department in tertiary institutions within the State; to promote the ongoing Board and the institution’s reform, to carry out deliberate advocacy programs that will encourage professional engagement and partnership with government agencies, organizations and critical stakeholder in terms of partnership/collaboration.

“Hence, one of the aims of this partnership is to ensure compliance to statutory regulatory requirements for professionals’ engagement, to mention few. We are also promising to put in place effective feedback mechanism to ensure that the Executive Committee and members of the Branch are always on the same page by practicing open door policy viz-a-viz”.

Earlier, the immediate past Chairman of the union in his farewell speech that noted, during their tenure in office, the branch institution witness a tremendous increase in membership strength by induction of ten (10) new members into the fold of the branch institution.

” This is a remarkable feat achieved by the branch since its inception in 1991. The feat was achieved through the collaborative efforts of the advocacy committee and education/research committee, headed by Esv. Jonh Eniwaiye and Esv. Idris Yusuf Abbas, respectively.

“In addition, the human capital development effort of the state branch institution also led to the constitution of the by-law committee, to look into the
extant by-laws and come up with some amendments. The committee was chaired by my able Vice Chairman Esv. Idris Yusuf Abbas. The review of the by-law has been completed, and the draft copy has been laid on the floor of the house for deliberation and ratification.

” Similarly on capital development, I am happy to inform us that the site plot of land acquired by the state Branch that has been Ieft fallow for years has come alive! A befitting secretariat office complex building plan has been procured through a registered architect by the building committee equally headed by my agile Vice Chairman. Work is in progress on site”.

Meanwhile, the Kogi State Commissioner for information and Communication Kingsley Fanwo who was represented by the Director, news and publication, Kogi State Ministry of Information Samuel Atuluku urged the new excos to be innovative and make a positive difference in order to justify the confidence reposed in them

“It is no longer news that the present administration in Kogi State under the chief servant, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is poised to make life better for all and without bias or discrimination.

“Let me assure you all that the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will continue to create the enabling environment for you to make progress in your activities. Therefore, to members of the Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, I appeal to you to remain focused towards the actualization of your dream.

“The government is aware that the Nigeria Institute of Estate Surveyors and Valuers is a non-profit voluntary and professional organization or association meant to cater for the interest of the landed profession in Nigeria. This goal is obviously quite unique and therefore, demands the genuine commitment of members.

“It is necessary at this juncture to assure you that government will encourage due partnership with the body in order to ensure value for money”.

The Commissioner also called on the new executive and members to do all within their reach to bring quackery to its barest minimum, adding that, the negative consequences of quackery in any profession have been very devastating; hence the need to heed this appeal becomes imperative”.
