Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has described sports as a powerful unifying force capable of bringing people of different ages, backgrounds and ethnic groups together to strengthen peace and collective development.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the state (SGS), Dr. Folashade Ayoade, said the initiative was deliberately designed to promote unity among young people and strengthen relationships among students of tertiary institutions across the state.
According to her, sports erases ethnic and social differences.
“In sports, you cannot ask whether someone is Igala before passing the ball to them. You cannot ask whether the person is Okun or Ebira. The ultimate goal is to work together as a team and win the game,” she said.
Ayoade reaffirmed the governor’s administration’s commitment to youth development, stressing that young people remain central to his government’s vision for growth, innovation and sustainable development.
