As part of her visit, the President of Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), the wife of the Inspector-General of Police, (Dr.) Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Salman Dogo Garba. She paid homage to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, who appreciated her visit and commended the Police for their efforts in maintaining peace and security in the State. The Governor pledged to continue providing maximum support to the Police in their quest to protect lives and property.

In a remarkable display of support and solidarity, the POWA President empowered 300 police widows and commissioned POWA State Chapter Secretariat equipped with skills acquisition materials, a Borehole as well as a Hospital at No. 52 Squadron, Police Mobile Force (PMF), Challawa Kano, built by a prominent philanthropist, Chairman Tiamin Rice Mill, Alhaji Aminu Ahmad.

In a press statement made public by the SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer, for the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Police Command, the empowerment program is part of POWA’s ongoing commitment to provide assistance and resources to the families of police personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. The program provided essential materials and financial support aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of these widows, offering them a chance to gain independence and stability in their lives.

In her welcome address, the Kano State Chapter Chairperson of POWA, Hajia Fati Dogo expressed pride in being part of an organization that prioritizes the needs of its members and their families. She also extended gratitude to the National President of POWA, (Dr.) Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba for their support towards making this event a reality. The chairperson encouraged the beneficiaries to make the most of the empowerment program, urging them to be strong, resilient, and determined.

During her address, Dr. Mrs. Egbetokun emphasized the importance of community support for the families of fallen heroes and the need to ensure that their sacrifices are recognized and honored through meaningful action. She finally acknowledged and appreciated all sponsors, supporters and well-wishers and prayed to Almighty God to continue to bless and reward all for making this day reality.

Finally, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Salman Dogo Garba, expressed his delight for receiving the POWA President and commended her unwavering commitment and compassion towards the welfare of the families of police officers.
