Kogi State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has pledge it’s commitment to efficient health care delivery in Kogi State at the launch of the Solar Direct Drive Refrigerators and Cooking Utensils
held at the State Medical Store Premises in Lokoja, the state capital.
At the occasion, the Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adams Adeiza, commends the development partners for their there tireless support and various intervention in the state which have had great impact on the health of kogi people.
“The redeployment of the Solar Direct Drive Refrigerators and Cooking Utensils has show another keep forward to improve immunisation coverage and promote maternal and child nutrition.”
The Executive Director, Kogi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Muazu Musa Omeiza and other top government functionaries in the state’s healthsector, assured the people of the state that the current administration will continue to prioritize their health at all levels.
Dr. Muazu called for proper utilization of the SDD for the purpose intended, and ensure adequate security and proper maintenance.
At the event, the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supplies Management Agency, Pharm. Salamat Onize Yunusa took the Commissioner for Health on an inspection tour of a section of the agency’s warehouse, where drugs and other essential health consumables were kept for distribution to all public health institutions across Kogi State.
Among the equipments distributed were 21 refrigerators for vaccine preservation in primary health care facilities across Kogi state. Others include cooking gas cylinders, plastic water containersand assorted cooking utensils forthe Nutrition Department, because nutrition is considered crucial to healthy living.
Earlier, representative of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mr. Afo layanIdowu, emphasized the need for government to invest more in primary healthcare of the citizens. Also, the UNICEF representative
stated that the least of the refrigerators with 2 compartments cost 9 million Naira.
He noted that 246 of such refrigerators have been distributed before and
lauded Kogi State Government for the visibility given to development partners in the execution of healthcare programs in the state.
