TINUBU REACTS AS FORMER NBC DG DIES, DESCRIBES HIM AS A DISTINGUISHED EDUCATOR, ADMINISTRATOR, AND CONSULTANT
President Bola Tinubu has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of Tom Adaba, the government, and the people of Kogi State following the death of the first director-general of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
Professor Adaba, a revered figure in the broadcast industry, passed away today at the age of 83. His significant contributions to journalism, especially in the broadcasting sector, have left a lasting impact.
A distinguished educator, administrator, and consultant, Mr. Adaba was an influential mentor and a source of inspiration within Nigeria’s broadcasting community and beyond.
President Tinubu acknowledged Mr. Adaba’s notable achievements, including his role as the first principal of the NTA Television College in Jos, an institution recognized for its training of television professionals across Nigeria and other African nations.
The president paid tribute to Mr. Adaba’s lifelong dedication to media development, mentorship, community service, and philanthropy.
He emphasized that Nigeria’s broadcast industry deregulation, communication scholarship, and media development would be incomplete without recognizing Mr. Adaba’s invaluable contributions.
President Tinubu prayed for the peaceful repose of Mr. Adaba’s soul and asked for God’s comfort for his family, friends, and all those mourning this great loss.
“May his legacies continue through the many professionals he trained, the scholarly works he authored, and the integrity he brought to the public offices he held,” the president said.
