STANDUP FOR WOMEN SOCIETY APPOINTS LIB. BILLIE NWOGU SPECIAL ADVISER ON MEDIA AND PUBLICITY

Abuja, Nigeria — The Standup for Women Society (SWS) has appointed its former National Public Relations Officer, Lib. Billie Avoyi Nwogu, as National Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the International President of the Society.
The appointment, which is for a two-year tenure, was formally presented to Lib. Billie Nwogu by the International President of SWS, Barr. Deborah Ijadele-Adetona, during the Society’s 5th International Conference held in Abuja.
Presenting the letter of appointment, Barr. Ijadele-Adetona commended Lib. Billie Nwogu for her unwavering commitment, dedication and outstanding contributions to the growth and visibility of the Standup for Women Society.
Lib. Billie Nwogu served as the National Public Relations Officer of SWS for two consecutive tenures, spanning four years, during which she consistently championed the dissemination and strategic communication of the Society’s objectives, programmes and achievements to the public.
In recognition of her contributions to media, advocacy and the visibility of the organisation, she was also honoured during the 5th International Conference with the prestigious SWS Media, Advocacy and Visibility Excellence Award 2026.
Reacting to the appointment and the honour, Lib. Billie Nwogu expressed gratitude to God and the leadership of the Standup for Women Society for the confidence reposed in her. She described her new responsibility as a call to do more, assuring the International President, Board of Trustees, Directorates and members of the Society of her continued commitment to promoting the organisation’s ideals and objectives.
“I thank God who has found me worthy and has given me the passion to do my best in terms of media and strategic communication of SWS affairs to the world. I am grateful for the honour and award. It is a call to do more,” she said.
Lib. Billie further appreciated the Society for first giving her the opportunity to serve at the national level as National PRO and now entrusting her with the responsibility of Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.
She reaffirmed her commitment to using her new position to promote justice for women, speak against abuse and all forms of ill-treatment of women, and amplify issues affecting women and vulnerable persons.
She also pledged to deploy her experience in media and strategic communication towards strengthening the public visibility of SWS and communicating its activities and achievements effectively to a global audience.
The Standup for Women Society is an organisation committed to bringing women together to speak with one voice, promote equal opportunities, advance women’s participation and leadership, and stand against injustice, abuse and discrimination against women.
The Society has chapters across the 36 states of Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and in more than 20 countries globally.
The appointment of Lib. Billie Nwogu is expected to further strengthen the Society’s media, advocacy and public communication efforts as SWS continues to pursue its mission of empowering women and promoting a society where women are treated with dignity, equity and fairness.
