Ododo Votes in APC Senatorial Primary, commends Peaceful Process in Kogi Central

Kogi State Governor,Ahmed Usman Ododo, cast his vote during the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election at his polling unit in Upogoro/Odenku Ward, Okene Local Government Area.

The exercise, which drew party faithful and supporters from across the ward, was conducted peacefully amid tight security and enthusiastic participation by APC members.

Speaking with journalists shortly after voting, Governor Ododo expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the primary, describing the process as transparent, orderly, and a reflection of democratic values being promoted within the ruling party.

“I’m very happy and excited. I feel fulfilled,” the governor said. “As you can see, the whole exercise is going on smoothly, peacefully, and in an orderly manner. This is the handwork of Mr. President, who laid the foundation for internal democracy within the party.”

Ododo emphasized that the APC leadership in Kogi State remained committed to allowing party members freely choose their representatives without imposition.

“There is no imposition. We allow people to speak and choose those who will serve them. That is exactly what we are doing here today,” he stated.

Governor Ododo further called for unity among party members after the primary election, stressing the need for all aspirants and supporters to work together in the interest of the APC and the people of Kogi State.

“I want to assure everyone that after this exercise, we will come out stronger. We are one family and we will continue to work together for the interest of our party and our people,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the returning officers for Upogoro/Odenku Ward, Usman Abdullahi, confirmed that the exercise was conducted in accordance with APC guidelines and involved only accredited party members.

He disclosed that three aspirants contested the primary election, namely Momoh Yusuf Obaro, Ibrahim Yakubu Adoke, and former Governor Yahaya Bello.

Shortly after the primary election and counting done, Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello emerged winner with a total votes of 72,399 .

According to him the election was peaceful and credible, as only APC membership cards were used for accreditation.
