The Ministry of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu on Tuesday convened a stakeholders’ meeting to discuss the Nigerian Metallurgical Industry Bill 2023, aimed at revitalizing the nation’s metallurgical sector.

The proposed legislation, which has passed its first reading at the National Assembly, seeks to establish a comprehensive legal and regulatory framework for the steel industry.

According to Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, Minister of Steel Development, the bill will bolster investor confidence, foster innovation, and create jobs in the sector.

“The Nigerian Metallurgical Industry Bill 2023 is a game-changer for the steel sector,” Prince Audu said. “It will provide a robust legal and regulatory framework that will drive growth, efficiency, and global competitiveness.”

The meeting, attended by representatives from government agencies, private sector organizations, and civil society, aimed to refine the bill and ensure its effectiveness in addressing the sector’s challenges.

The Ministry of Steel Development has pledged to work closely with stakeholders to align the final version of the bill with Nigeria’s broader industrialization goals.

The Nigerian Metallurgical Industry Bill 2023 is expected to transform the steel sector and position Nigeria as a major player in the global metallurgical landscape.
