2027: Ododo Rallies Support For Tinubu, Says Nigeria Must Choose
Between Progress And Failure
By Faith Adikeh
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on Nigerians to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, saying the country must choose between moving forward and turning back.
Governor Ododo made this known, Money October 12, 2026, in Lokoja during the rally and unveiling of campaign vehicles by the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
The Governor said President Tinubu inherited serious economic challenges and took bold decisions to reform the economy, noting that the removal of fuel subsidy has increased resources available to states for development.
“My people, every nation reaches a moment when it must choose between moving forward and turning back. For Nigeria, that moment is 2027. Do we continue the journey of reform or return to those who failed woefully in the past?” Ododo asked.
He listed major federal projects including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway, Kogi Economic City and Free Trade Zone in Ajaokuta, and the Kogi International Airport at Zariagi, as signs of progress under the Tinubu administration.
On security, Ododo said President Tinubu is supporting the establishment of state police and empowering security agencies to ensure farmers return to farms and Nigerians sleep peacefully.
The Governor also highlighted his administration’s achievements in Kogi, including free and compulsory basic education, renovation of primary healthcare centres, road construction, and the ultra-modern Lokoja market, which he said were made possible by Tinubu’s economic reforms.
He charged coordinators of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to take the message to every ward and household without insulting opponents, stressing that “vehicles do not win elections, people win elections.”
“We are targeting at least 90 per cent of the votes in Kogi State. That requires hard work, persuasion and mobilisation in every ward,” Ododo said, adding, “Tinubu has started the work, let us finish it together.”
He commended Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and other leaders mobilising support for the President.
Earlier, the founder of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, who was represented by Kenstin Pondi, described Tinubu as a bold leader whose economic reforms were intended to address longstanding challenges in the country.
Pondi said the President had taken difficult decisions since assuming office in May 2023, including reforms in revenue allocation and the electricity sector, which he argued had expanded the capacity of state governments to implement development projects.
Pondi urged members of the movement to intensify their door-to-door campaign and mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election, saying the country needed continuity to consolidate the gains of ongoing reforms.
In her remarks, the newly inaugurated Woman Leader of the movement in Kogi State, Habitat Salihu, thanked the group for the confidence reposed in her and pledged to work with other members to strengthen its activities across the state.
The event featured the inauguration and unveiling of 25 campaign vehicles, generators and public address systems to support the group’s activities across the state.
