Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has commended the Vice President of the Igbo Community in Kogi State for establishing an industrial facility in Lokoja, describing it as a sign of confidence in the state’s economy.
The factory, which produces engine oil, kegs and jerrycans, currently employs over 200 Kogites.
Governor Ododo spoke on Saturday, October 11, 2026, during an inspection visit to the facility. He said Kogi can only reach its full economic potential when investors believe in its future and put their money in the state.
According to him, the investor is an example of what Kogi needs — people who will invest and create jobs, not those who take raw materials away.
“This is the right investment at the right time and in the right place. It will reduce unemployment and give our young people legitimate means of livelihood,” Ododo said.
In a major boost for the business, the Governor announced a three-year waiver on five selected annual levies for the factory. They are Land Use Charge, Environmental Levy, Business Premises Annual Renewal, Fire Service Levy and Economic Development Levy.
He said his administration will continue to support genuine investors and sustain an enabling environment for Igbo businesses and all other businesses in the state to thrive.
Ododo also praised President Bola Tinubu for creating policies that encourage industrialization and private sector investment.
He reiterated his vision to build a private sector in Kogi that employs far more people than the public sector, adding that Kogi has the resources and location to become an industrial hub in Nigeria.
In his remarks managing director
of Godec Power Nigeria Limited, operators of Confluencelube, Chief okechukwu Obika commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his purposeful leadership and for creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in Kogi State.
“Our products are manufactured using premium base oils and carefully selected additives, with a commitment to meeting applicable regulatory requirements and recognised industry standards.
He noted that the Governor’s efforts in security, job creation and empowerment have restored confidence among investors and entrepreneurs.
- According to him, the company which started as a trading company in 2001 has now diversified into lubricant production, plastic recycling and container manufacturing, with 100 direct jobs and over 200 indirect jobs already created. He disclosed that at full capacity, the factory which currently operates at 40% will employ over 300 direct staff and 1,000 indirect workers, while also recycling plastic waste to reduce pollution
