The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, on January 1, 2026, organized a birthday celebration in honour of his principal, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, at Tafari Hotels and Suites, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The event was organized as a mark of appreciation for the Governor’s visionary leadership, unwavering support, and outstanding commitment to the growth and development of the state.

The colourful ceremony attracted top government functionaries, political leaders, and party stakeholders from across Kogi State.

Speaking at the event, Engr. Yusuf praised Governor Ododo’s achievements, noting that his administration has repositioned Kogi State as a major construction hub while recording remarkable progress across critical sectors of the economy.

He described the Governor as a people-centred leader whose developmental strides are visible and widely acknowledged across the state.

The Commissioner reaffirmed his loyalty and political support to the Governor and pledged the firm backing of the people of Adavi Local Government Area, assuring that all eleven wards would be fully delivered in support of Governor Ododo.

According to him, “The people of Adavi understand the value of gratitude and remain committed to the leadership and vision of Governor Ododo, and at the appropriate time, they will express their appreciation loudly.”

In separate goodwill messages, the Kogi State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello; the Auditor-General for Local Government, Siyaka Yakubu Adabenege; and the Ohi-Otenyete of Ebiraland, Daudu Isa Ozi Salami, among others, commended Governor Ododo for his purposeful leadership and transformative governance.

They also lauded Engr. Yusuf for his diligence and impactful service as Commissioner for Works, noting that the visible infrastructural development across the state reflects his tireless efforts.

As part of the celebration, Engr. Yusuf carried out a cash empowerment programme for stakeholders and residents of Adavi LGA. Chairmen of the eleven wards received ₦200,000 each, while 24 local government executives were empowered with ₦100,000 each. Additionally, ten women received ₦100,000 each, and 92 beneficiaries drawn from across the wards received ₦50,000 each.

The empowerment initiative further underscores the Commissioner’s long-standing commitment to grassroots development and humanitarian service.

Recall that in October, he empowered all women leaders in Adavi with ₦200,000 each, alongside his health foundation’s support for indigent citizens and an ongoing scholarship scheme covering tuition fees for vulnerable and underprivileged students.

Through these interventions, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf continues to restore hope, uplift communities, and complement the development agenda of the Kogi State Government as championed by the people’s governor.

Dignitaries at the event included HRH Muhammed Ireyi Bello, the Ohi of Adavi; Haruna Baba Asema (Chico), Chief Whip of the Kogi State House of Assembly; Abdulrasheed Bashiru Okatengwu, the Chairman of Adavi LGA; Taiye Abanika, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development; Engr. Muhammed Lawal, PhD, Managing Director of the Kogi State Solid Mineral Development Company; TPL Kehinde Augustine, Director-General, Bureau of Lands; Onimisi M.I. a politician and Estate Management, Abdulbasit Adarehi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Protocol; Ismail Isah, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media; Royal Fathers, and other top government officials.
