PRECIOUS AND MAUREEN LIMITED TAKES NASRDA/GBB FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SKILLS ACQUISITION PROJECT TO THE PALACE OF THE OBARO OF KABBA
The Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty Oba Solomon Owoniyi, has commended the Federal and State Governments for creating an enabling environment for young men and women to be trained and empowered through various initiatives.
The monarch gave this commendation when the sensitization team of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) and the Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB) Skills Acquisition Project visited his palace in Kabba. According to the team, the initiative is designed to empower over one thousand youths across the Kogi West Senatorial District.
Speaking at the event, Oba Solomon Owoniyi described the project as a welcome development:
“On your program, I think it is a good one. Anything that can change the lives of our people from zero level to a higher pedestal, we welcome it . We will cooperate with you. We will give you our maximum support, All we need is to reap the expected fruits from whatever we are planting today, we pray that God Almighty will be with all of us” the Obaro stated.
The event featured an interactive question-and-answer session, which renewed participants’ hope that the Federal Government is paying attention to the plight of youths and fresh graduates across the country.
The Director and Deputy Director of Training, Amb. Amos Lawal and Khalimat Ibrahim elaborated on key aspects of the project.
The state coordinator, Ambassador Ibrahim Usman said it is for the good of the people especially the youths. He said after the sensitization and profiling of trainers and trainees, it is his responsibility to provide the mother NGO which is the GBB, with their reports and wait for further directives.
“As usual, we have been going from senatorial to senatorial areas, we have been to Kogi Central, Kogi East, and Kogi West, even though we have had sensitization in Lokoja, we deem it fit to come to Okunn land/”
“By the grace of God, we are to cap all out and send our reports to NASRDA/GBB for further action. In our program that we have to take up next, is to train the trainers on entrepreneurship and how to train their trainees. We go into visitation of their workshops to see that they actually have what it takes to engage the trainees” Ambassador Usman said.
He stressed that training commencement would be subject to proper assessment of trainers’ workshops to meet NASRDA/GBB standards.
The Zonal Coordinator, Olukayode Olonishuwa, reaffirmed the Federal and State Governments’ commitment to youth development nationwide:
“From Lokoja to Okun land, Kogi West is well captured in this program. We have visited other royal palaces, including those of the Attah and the Maigeri of Lokoja, and brought the NASRDA/GBB Skills Acquisition Program here. Our youths will benefit greatly,” he said.
Among the trainers, Mrs. Olushola Martins, a baking and catering specialist, expressed her joy over the opportunity to train youths:
“I am fully prepared and encouraged by what I’ve heard today. I thank the Federal Government and coordinators of this program. God bless everyone involved,” she said.
A trainee, Mojisola Ayodele, who has been unemployed for over 12 years, shared her excitement:
“I am extremely glad. This initiative is timely and commendable. I encourage other youths to take part. Instead of waiting for white-collar jobs, you can become an employer yourself. We thank the President for this effort,” she said.
Okun land coordinators, Pastor David Jidemola Yeye and Peter Babatunde Ajakaiye, pledged to encourage fresh graduates to embrace skills acquisition, highlighting the program’s coverage of over 85 different skills.
Similarly, Kogi West Assistant Zonal Coordinator, Paul Ayodele, praised the government for the initiative and assured that his commitment to its success extends across all six LGAs in the district.
“This project is self-explanatory; anything that improves lives is always embraced by the people. Everyone present today is happy because they know this will transform lives,” Ayodele stated.
The NASRDA/GBB Skills Acquisition Project is a key component of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at lifting millions of youths out of unemployment and empowering them to become self-reliant.
