2027: Gov Ododo Tells Kogi People To Repay Tinubu With 100% Votes
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged Kogi people to show appreciation to President Bola Tinubu with massive votes in 2027.
Governor Ododo said this on Thursday when he received members of Team Yomikola led by former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole, at Government House, Lokoja.
He said President Tinubu’s administration has shown uncommon love and support for Kogi State, and the people should not be ungrateful.
According to him, the projects his administration is executing and the improved finances of the state are linked to the support from the Federal Government.
He said President Tinubu deliberately made more resources available to states, which has helped governors to execute projects that would have been difficult before.
“Let us show appreciation. We are not ungrateful people. We should show appreciation by voting for President Bola Tinubu, APC, 100 per cent, so that he can continue to build on his achievements,” Ododo said.
The Governor mentioned the ongoing work on the Abaji-Koton Karfe-Lokoja-Benin Expressway, describing it as one of Tinubu’s biggest interventions in Kogi. He said the road was abandoned for many years before Tinubu showed political will to fix it.
On security, Ododo revealed that President Tinubu always supports him personally whenever Kogi needs help.
“Anytime I called him, he linked me with the DSS, he linked me with the IG personally, the Chief of Army Staff. Anytime I had issues, I called him and he called them immediately,” he said.
He said the relative peace Kogi is enjoying today is due to combined efforts of his administration and the Federal Government.
Governor Ododo also praised Matthew Kolawole for his loyalty and commitment to APC, and urged members of Team Yomikola to remain united and not allow politicians to divide them.
Earlier, Kolawole said he stepped down from contest in the interest of the party and for peace. He said the over 400 people present at the meeting are just a small part of the Yomikola structure across Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
He assured the Governor that whatever directive he gives will be taken to the grassroots, and announced plans to mobilize support for Tinubu and Ododo through meetings with traditional rulers, town-halls, street sensitization and empowerment programmes.
Kolawole also appealed to the Governor to consider more members of his political family for appointments, saying many of them have been loyal to APC from the beginning.
The Chairman of Kabba-Bunu LGA, Barr. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, described Kolawole as a grassroots mobilizer who has raised many political leaders and urged the Governor to strengthen the relationship with the structure.
Also speaking,Adam Kamaldeen Toyin from Ijumu said the structure has capacity to take the APC message to the remotest villages and will work for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 and for Ododo’s continuity till 2031.
