Kogi youths Security Summit: Governor Ododo Unveils Plan To Empower Youths With Education and Technology
Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo says if we want real security in Kogi, we must go beyond guns and give young people something to protect.
The Governor said this on Thursday in Lokoja at the Kogi Youth Security Summit 2026.
Speaking on the theme “Building a Secure Kogi Together”Ododo said his government is tackling insecurity from the root by creating opportunities for youths.
According to him, his administration is focusing on free education, jobs in agriculture and entrepreneurship, technology training, and infrastructure.
“Development is security because development gives people something valuable to protect,” he said.
Governor Ododo praised students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) for building drones, and urged all Kogi youths to learn digital skills to help secure their communities.
He also thanked President Bola Tinubu and security agencies for their work, but warned youths to stay away from cultism, drugs, and political thuggery.
He urged citizens to share useful information with security agencies and to stop spreading fake news and hate speech on social media.
“Reporting danger is not betrayal. It is your responsibility. It is love for your community,” Ododo added.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Monday Anyebe, said the state will create Youth Peace Ambassadors in all 21 Local Governments to promote peace and work with security agencies.
Guest speaker, Chief Yusuf Haruna Abiona also called for better partnership between communities and security agencies.
The summit brought together government officials, security chiefs, traditional rulers, and youth leaders to discuss how to make Kogi safer.
Governor Ododo said his goal is to build a Kogi where every young person has access to education, job, and opportunity to grow.
