As the administration of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, marks two years in office, it is fitting to reflect on the remarkable strides recorded under his purposeful, people-centred, and results-driven leadership in Kogi State.
Within this period, Governor Ododo has demonstrated an uncommon commitment to good governance, delivering impactful achievements across critical sectors of the state’s development.
His administration has remained steadfast in its resolve to improve the quality of life of Kogites while building on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Bello, for sustainable growth.
“In the education sector, the Ododo-led administration has prioritised human capital development through the rehabilitation of schools, improved learning environments, enhanced teacher welfare, the declaration of free education in all public primary and secondary schools, the construction and remodelling of facilities across state-owned universities, and policies aimed at repositioning education as a tool for empowerment and progress.”
On security, the governor has strengthened collaboration with security agencies and local stakeholders, leading to improved safety across communities.
The administration has procured modern security equipment to curb insecurity, including the deployment of sophisticated surveillance drones to combat crime and terrorism across the state. This firm stance against criminality has restored confidence among residents, traders, and investors, thereby boosting social and economic activities.
The agricultural sector has also received renewed attention through farmer support initiatives, the promotion of agribusiness, and policies aimed at increasing food production, ensuring food security, and creating employment opportunities, especially for youths and rural dwellers.
In infrastructure development, Governor Ododo’s administration has embarked on strategic road construction projects, rehabilitated critical infrastructure, and improved public facilities that enhance connectivity, ease transportation, and stimulate economic growth.
The health sector has benefited from increased investments, including upgraded healthcare facilities, improved access to medical services through the State Health Insurance Agency, and targeted interventions to enhance the well-being of citizens across both urban and rural areas.
Notably, the administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to workers’ welfare by ensuring the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and other entitlements, while fostering a conducive environment for productivity and industrial harmony.
Two years on, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has proven that effective leadership is anchored on vision, compassion, and accountability. His achievements reflect a responsive government that listens, acts, and delivers.
As Kogi State looks ahead, there is renewed optimism that the Ododo administration will sustain this trajectory of progress, inclusiveness, and development for the benefit of all Kogites.
