GOV. ODODO KEEPS HIS WORD: ZANGO COMMUNITY RECEIVES TRANSFORMER WITHIN FOUR DAYS

There was widespread jubilation in Timber Garage, Zango Daji, Lokoja, on Tuesday as residents and traders received a brand-new 500KVA electricity transformer from Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, just four days after he made the promise.
The Governor had, on Friday, July 3, 2026, briefly halted his convoy while inspecting the Lokoja–Zango Road to attend to residents whose transformer had been out of service for nearly three months. The prolonged blackout had severely disrupted activities at the Timber Market and surrounding homes.
Moved by their appeal, Governor Ododo assured the community that a replacement transformer would be delivered within four days.
True to his promise, the transformer arrived on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, and was immediately presented for installation.
Representing the Governor, the Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, Engr. Muhammed Abdulmutalib, through his Technical Assistant, Isah Hussaini Sule, stated that the intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure that directly impacts the lives of citizens.
He noted that the new transformer would significantly improve power supply, boost economic activities, enhance security, and accelerate development within the area. He also urged residents to take ownership by safeguarding the facility against vandalism.
The presentation sparked celebrations across the market, with traders and residents expressing deep appreciation to the state government.
President of the Timber Market Association, Victor Ojukwu, described the development as remarkable, stating that the community was “100 percent happy” with the Governor’s swift response.
“Many of us doubted it would happen so quickly, but Governor Ododo has proven to be a leader who not only speaks but acts. For three months, we spent heavily on diesel. This will reduce our costs and revive business activities,” he said, assuring that the association would protect the transformer.
Another beneficiary, Bosede Mesicko, recounted how a woman had stopped the Governor’s convoy to present the community’s appeal.
“He listened and promised delivery by Tuesday. We didn’t believe it until we saw it. He is truly a promise keeper. May God continue to protect and guide him,” she said.
She added that the Governor’s responsiveness has strengthened public trust and would likely earn him increased support ahead of the 2027 elections.
Residents described the intervention as more than just the restoration of electricity, it stands as clear evidence of responsive and people-oriented leadership.
A similar wave of excitement was also recorded in Crusher Community, which benefited from a comparable gesture by the state government.
For the people of Zango Daji and Timber Garage, the 500KVA transformer symbolizes renewed hope and a government that keeps its word.
