IT’S TIME TO COME TOGETHER FOR GREATER SOCIETY….. SAYS, EZI-UGA OF LOKOJA
The Ezi-uga clan association popularly known as Ezi-esusu of Ebiraland of Kogi central have called on sons and daughters globally to reconnect to their origin, and to celebrate their root saying, it is imperative to connect to one another to continue to support the unity and love their forefathers established to build a community void of hatred and bitterness.
The Chairman and father of the day during the occasion of marking the end of the year 2024 of the association in Lokoja said that coming and working together for progress of one another is the ultimate.
The occasion attracted mostly sons and daughters across Lokoja, the kogi state capital.
The low key celebration was the first of its kind that the Ezi-uga would gather to celebrate the end of the year in Lokoja.
The chairman of the Ezuga association, Lokoja Chapter, Michael Shuaibu assured that subsequent events will attract many from kogi central and globally.
He called on all sundry connected to Uga to join forces with them to build a better society where the younger generation would be happy to be called Ezi-uga
The father of the day, retired permanent secretary, and an elder stateman, Saliu Sule expressed joy and described the gathering as timely.
Salihu encouraged parents to promote the unique culture and language that form the integral part of every society to be proud of their origin and language saying it is a way of promoting and protecting the local dialect from going into extinction.
While Salihu Sule’s wife charged women to honour their husbands at all times, saying it is the way to build a happy home, her husband commended the people for standing by one another in progress.
Chairman of the occasion, Opotu Yussuff, Senior Special Assistant to Kogi State Governor on Print Media, Avoyi Nwogu and other executive members of the association appreciated the people for their turnout, described it as a sign of unity.
Opotu and others at the occasion commended the state governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo for his achievement so far across the all sectors of the economy and infrastructure development.
An empowerment program for selected youths was announced by an ICT expert, Abdulkareem Abdullahi. He encouraged youths to grab the opportunity the information, communication and technology has provided to build themselves successfully.
The Uga clan among many others in ebiraland has a unique culture popularly celebrated annually, tagged the return of Adiyaya, the ekuoba that launches the celebration of ekuechi festival which has continued to strive from generation to generation.
